One the styles that they had a choice of using was a &#8220;Name Poem&#8221;, where you take something you&#8217;re interested in, and write a poem using the first letters of that word to begin each line of the poem. There were name poems on &#8220;BASEBALL&#8221;, &#8220;CHEERLEADER&#8221;, &#8220;SOCCER&#8221; and the like, but check out my young son&#8217;s entry:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"margin-right: 0px\"><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">T<\/span>he ball is flying<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">R<\/span>eally, really fast!!!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A<\/span> raging battle goes on<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">C<\/span>omes down to this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">B<\/span>lasting the ball<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A<\/span>nd making it curve.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">L<\/span>ife saving shots,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">L<\/span>ook at the ball, and how it swerves.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Anyone who has never played the Sport of the 21st Century, or at least seen &#8220;Tron&#8221;, would probably consider it nonsensical at best, but reading this was one of my proudest moments as a father!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.virtualtoychest.com\/tracball\/tracball.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"http:\/\/brucearmstrong.net\/images\/tracballfc.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All the kids in Andrew&#8217;s school (K-6) were tasked with writing poems for the &#8220;DBU Lab School Book of Poetry&#8221;.
