Holly’s soccer team, “The Strykers”, has started the summer indoor season. I was stuck in the office on the north side of the Metroplex and was unable to make it to the opening game, and it sounds like I missed a good one. Several team members were out of town, so all the girls there had to play the entire game with no substitutions. Also because of the shortage, Holly played part of the game in the Forward position and scored 2 of her team’s 5 goals! Macie scored the other 3, but it wasn’t enough for the win, because their opponents scored in the last minutes of the game to tie it up 5-5. Michelle described the game as “a real nail biter”.

Holly and Macie Workin’ at the Car Wash
Holly and Macie danced to “Car Wash” in the Mountain Peak Elementary Talent Show. They worked really hard in coming up with their own routine and practiced til they could do it in their sleep. When the big moment came, the crowd was really into it, clapping loudly to the song. Both girls did great and had a wonderful time on the stage.I don’t think either of them can stand the song anymore now.

Strikers Take First
Holly’s soccer team just finished a fantastic season in the Waxahachie YMCA league. They really improved since the indoor season. As a matter of fact they took first place, only losing a single game the whole season. Congratulations Holly and all the Strikers!

Giant Bubble Blowin’

One of our purchases from the craftsmen at the 55th Annual Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival was a giant bubble wand. When we got home, we mixed up some bubble juice and started making giant bubbles. Here are the results.
05/07/06 Update: Now we have a bigger, better bubble wand from a Klutz book on Bubble Making and now we can make bigger, better bubbles. -
Outdoor Soccer Season Started
Outdoor soccer season started for Holly today, and the “Strikers” got off to a fantastic start. After taking team photos early in the morning, they had a double header, and won both games by wide margins. Holly’s friend Macie scored a total of 8 goals in the two games. She was amazing and it seemed she couldn’t miss. Even more thrilling was that Holly scored her very first goal! (And she did it from a midfielder position.) New photos added to the Soccer album. -
Indoor Soccer is Over
Holly’s indoor soccer team ended the season on a high note, beating the first place team 5-2. The Lady Strikers all played great, and it was definitely Holly’s personal best game yet. I told her to “leave it all on the field”, and she definitely did that. She was thoroughly exhausted after the game.Overall, the indoor season was a success. As expected, the team improved rapidly, and at one point put together a 3-game win streak. All I’ve got to offer photos-wise is some before- and after-game shots. I wish I could have taken some proper “action” photos, but the plexiglass around the field prevented that, so I eventually quit bringing my camera.
Now that the indoor season is over, the girls have to make the transition to outdoor soccer, which starts in just a couple of weeks. As spectators, Michelle and I will miss the climate-controlled comfort of the indoor facility.

Holly the Data Entry Worker
While I was tediously copying and pasting entries from my old (non-blog) web design, I started thinking, “Even a monkey could do this job.” Holly’s not as monkey-like as Andrew, but she was around and willing to work. She modified, copied, and pasted the HTML source from almost all of the year 2000. Thanks, Holly!

Indoor Soccer for Holly
Holly has joined an indoor soccer team: The Midlothian Lady Strikers. There are a few girls from her previous outdoor team, as well as some of her best friends from school that she hadn’t played with before. This is a “no practice” team, and is basically meant to be a warm-up for the Spring outdoor league. The girls started off with a tough loss against an established team. But you could see that they enjoyed themselves and were going to improve quickly. -
Happy Halloween

Holly dressed as a witch for the second year in a row, and Andrew went the budget route. “Dew Man” may make some people think “Son of Busch Man”.They went Trick-or-Treating with friends throughout the neighborhood, pretty much unsupervised, while Michelle and I stayed home watching “Shaun of the Dead” and handing out candy.
